While the papers are full of Bale and Soldado stories this morning, we are less than an hour away from some real action on the pitch as Spurs prepare for their first ‘competitive’ match of the 2013-14 campaign. Tottenham face Sunderland in the Barclays Asia Trophy with the winner progressing to Saturday’s final and Head Coach Andre Villas-Boas is looking to give one or two of our new players their first chance in a Tottenham shirt.

“It’s good for us,” said Andre. “It’s a good opportunity to measure ourselves and for the players to continue their preparation.

“Training has been hard and they have been excellent. Regarding effort, you have to give them all the credit.

“We’ll give a first 90 minutes to a couple of players and hopefully we’ll get through to the final.”

The winner will go on to face either Manchester City or South China FC and given that the bookmakers have installed City as heavy odds on favourites, the final is likely to be an all Premiership clash and potentially a real challenge for Spurs ahead of the new campaign.

The game will be televised live on Sky Sports 1 but what or who are you looking forward to seeing out on the pitch?
