The name of Salomon Kalou appeared in these, and many other pages when he was set to leave Chelsea back in July 2012 as a free agent. Several Premiership clubs were mentioned but nobody took a punt on the Ivorian until Lille came in and since then, the 28 year olds’ strike rate has improved dramatically.

In 48 league games in France, Kalou has found the net 20 times and you can compare that with the 36 in 156 that he managed during his stint at Stamford Bridge. Predictably, that form has led to a number of rumours linking the player with a move back to the Premiership and with Jermain Defoe on his way to Canada, Spurs head the rumour mill’s list.

It’s claimed that the player’s agent has been contacted about a move away from France but Lille are unwilling to sell. As a result, this seems another non-starter but that record in France is a surprising one – could Salomon Kalou do a job at White Hart Lane?

  1. No, no, no. Spurs need to buy no one. Sell no one. Just get on with it. Our seasons have been blighed by transfers for too long.

  2. yeah well said bloomer….we got chads and lamela who can play up front in fact prefer to play up there!! id say 1 buy and thats a left back maybe a young keeper to idolise uncle brad and hugo. We need the rest of the season to find our feet thats all…. when we click…. look out we will destroy teams guaranteed COYS!!!

  3. Kalou looked ineffective while at Chelsea. Of course he looks better in the French league, that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s improved.

We need a left back and maybe a centre back. A forward only if they’re better than our existing ones. An understudy for Lloris. And please, no more midfielders, we’ve got too many already.
