It must be at least two years since Spurs were first linked with Lazio centre forward Miroslav Klose and he was pretty ancient then so it’s a surprise to see the story surface again this morning. The veteran centre forward will be 36 by the time the transfer window opens in the summer but sections of the press claim he will look for one last tilt at the Premier League.

His overall record in Italy is a respectable one with 33 goals in 69 league games but during this campaign Klose has just five in 16. The striker’s contract is up at the end of the season and while a renewal with Lazio is a possibility, an unproductive end to the season could see the German released.

At 26, even a short term contract would represent a ‘punt’ but could Miroslav Klose do a job in a Spurs shirt?
