Spurs scouts didn’t have to make too much effort to get a close up view of alleged target Yevhen Konoplyanka as the Ukrainian’s penalty sealed a 1-0 win for Dnipro on Thursday night. The winger enjoyed an impressive all round performance and could be an even greater threat next week when he gets to play on a decent surface.

A scouting team from Liverpool was also reported to be in the crowd last night and after the game, Tim Sherwood gave his assessment on Konoplyanka’s performance.

“I think he did well after he scored,” Sherwood said after the game.

“Kyle Naughton did very good job on him. After he scored he got confident and made some very good runs.”

Dnipro report that they are 99% certain to receive a second offer from Liverpool in the summer but what about Spurs? Konoplyanka took a calm penalty – we have a penalty taker whose contribution last night will be remembered for a glaring miss from two yards.

Meanwhile, ITV showed a pre-match montage of the Ukrainian cutting in from the left and hitting the target with his right foot – something he almost repeated in the second half on Thursday. At £16m he looks a good option but are Spurs set to move or is Liverpool the only likely destination?

  1. I think Liverpool have shown they are serious about buying him, we haven’t. Apparently the deal was very close so i’d be very surprised if he didn’t join them.
    But he looks quality

  2. Of course Spurs should buy him. He looks like a proper footballer. Apart from Carroll and Pritchard, we have no special players. All of our current midfielders are mediocre.
