Whoever comes in to manage Tottenham in the summer must surely identify the need for a new left back to replace Danny Rose and the assortment of players who can’t adequately cover his position. In an ideal world, Southampton’s Luke Shaw would be signing up but he is likely to be lured elsewhere with Old Trafford the favourite destination among the press.

That will see a number of players linked with Spurs between now and the start of next season and the latest of these is FC Zurich’s Loris Benito. The story originated in the Mirror and it alleges that Spurs are watching the 22 year old after receiving a recommendation from our former player Ramon Vega.

Beyond that, there’s very little to report on a player who has six caps for his country at international level but has yet to break into the Swiss national side. He can play in midfield but left back is his main position and while Ramon may well have spotted something, there’s little to suggest that Loris Benito is ready to become first choice at a Premiership side.

If you have any knowledge of Benito then please share it but in the meantime, here’s a video of him being bitten by a Beech Marten.
