Some sections of the media are reporting our link to West Ham flop Valon Behrami as a shock but in reality, a suggested swap deal involving Jan Vertonghen has been around for some time now. The Swiss international may have underwhelmed the Hammers but he has since gone on to become a reliable defender for Napoli and has become one of the first names on manager Rafa Benitez’s team sheet.
The story has reappeared today but there is no mention of Vertonghen as the Belgian is believed to be waiting on Tottenham’s next managerial appointment before deciding on his future. Instead, it’s claimed that Napoli have slapped a £16m price tag on the 29 year old who they want to keep ahead of the next Serie A campaign.
Berhami has three years left on his contract so he won’t be cheap but his previous spell at West Ham may be enough to make this a non starter. Alternatively, it may just be paper talk and could have surfaced because of a potential link with Benitez to the vacant manager’s job at Spurs.
Hes shit!!! Better off with Reid…
