It’s been coming for some time but now we know for certain that Heurelho Gomes has played his last game in a Spurs shirt. His departure was unofficially announced by his fellow Brazilian Sandro a few days ago but the club has now made a statement giving official confirmation.

“Heurelho Gomes is to leave the Club at the conclusion of his contract next month and we would like to wish the popular goalkeeper all the best for the future,” the message reads.

Gomes was actually a Juande Ramos signing and was retained as first choice by Harry Redknapp until a succession of errors saw him lose his place to Brad Friedel. In total, he played 135 games in all competitions for Tottenham and we wish him all the best in his search for a new club.
