Tottenham might be desperate to sign a left back in the upcoming transfer window but is this a position worth losing a striker and a defensive midfielder for? That’s the equation suggested by the Daily Express who claim that Spurs could be looking to swap two players on a temporary basis in order to fill one problem area.

Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno is among a number of high quality left backs being linked with moves this summer. Daley Blind, Ricardo Rodriguez and Luke Shaw are among the others but while transfer fees for the 21 year old are being quoted from £25m upwards, Tottenham could be priced out of a straight cash deal.

Earlier in the month we picked up on reports claiming that Spurs were prepared to offer £14m for Moreno plus Etienne Capoue and Roberto Soldado on loan for the season. Today, according to the Express, the stakes have increased to £16m plus Capoue and Soldado until the end of the campaign.

Liverpool are allegedly eyeing up a similar proposal but is Moreno good enough for our club to consider such a complicated and sizeable offer?

  1. As long as Sandro doesn’t go we can afford to let Capoue leave. Soldado probably won’t feature too much so he can go as well.

  2. Soldado should be kept and given chance In a spurs squad eho actually play attacking football that poch plays….coys just get a left back and a left midfielder and were laughing all the way to the bank this season..coys

  3. The trade is fine, except it’s the wrong guy. Spurs need to be looking at Juan Bernat currently playing for Valencia. He’s the solution on the left side at fullback or wingback.

  4. Obviously a left back is a priority but it seems strange to send soldado out on loan when he’s not getting any younger and unless he has a really good season his value is not going to increase after another year so it would make more sense to cash in on him now if we aren’t going to give him another season to prove himself with us
Surely it would make more sense to just go for shaw as he’s younger and has prem experience…if we sell capoue and soldado that will cover the cost of shaw and save the 14 million we would’ve put into this deal
