With rumours that Roberto Soldado could be sold to Inter Milan for a cut price £15m and Emmanuel Adebayor starting his recovery from a bout of malaria, rumours of a new striker arrival are starting to intensify.
But who is available and who would travel to White Hart Lane in order to provide the goals that could take us back into the top four?
Loic Remy
French international striker Remy was said to be involved in a battle between Spurs and Arsenal after a productive season with Newcastle United. Arsenal have now secured the services of Barcelona striker Alexis Sanchez meaning that Remy is left with a choice to make.
14 goals in 26 league games for a poor Newcastle side suggests that Tottenham should be battling a little harder for his signature.
Max Kruse
26 year old Borussia Monchengladbach striker Kruse is a relatively unfamiliar name and a recent link that started to appear earlier this week. He’s been capped for Germany at full international level on six occasions, scoring once, but his overall record may not be anything to get excited about.
Kruse has 11 goals in 30 games for Monchengladbach since joining at the end of 2012-13 and would need to improve on that ratio in order to have an impact at White Hart Lane.
Romelu Lukaku
A move for Max Kruse would represent something of a punt but having spent three years in England, Belgian international Lukaku is a proven striker in the EPL and it’s a surprise that Chelsea aren’t trusting him to lead the line.
The player has said that he wants to play Champions League football and that old chestnut might rule us out for now but while nobody is making their move, it does give Spurs an opportunity to place an early bid and match a reported transfer fee of around £20m.
Miroslav Klose
Yep, this one is doing the rounds again after the veteran striker broke Ronaldo’s all time World Cup goal scoring record and picked himself up a winner’s medal in the process.
Klose was mentioned in connection with a move to Spurs before he joined Lazio from Bayern Munich in 2011. He’s 36 now and that may put off the Champions League sides and if he fancies a Klinsmann type move to end his long career, Spurs fans would probably welcome him.
