The scoreline may have been tight but Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino believes that Tottenham fully deserved the win in Sunday’s fixture against Southampton. The teams were split only by Christian Eriksen’s 40th minute strike but the Argentinean echoed the view that the margin of victory should have been much wider.
“It was difficult because Southampton arrived here full of confidence and with a great start to the season,” he said.
“But we gave our all and congratulations to the players, they did a good job.
“It was a tough game and we deserved the three points. I’m happy with the win.
“For us, it’s important to still improve. We are going the right way, maybe the last couple of games it was difficult to get positive results but we’re growing and developing our style.”
