Tottenham came through last night’s Europa League win with a 2-1 scoreline and while the majority of the game was relatively comfortable, Spurs wouldn’t be Spurs without a bit of drama. Federico Fazio’s late sending off was his second for the club and it precipitated a hazardous last few minutes as Asteras pulled a goal back from the subsequent penalty before threatening to equalise.

After the match, Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino declared himself satisfied with the victory.

“I think that during the first half we were better than Asteras,” Pochettino said. “We played well during some moments and scored two goals.

“After half-time, they started well and created one chance very early. We had some chances to score the third goal but in football it’s difficult because Asteras start to play and to be confident in the game.

“They created some chances and at the end with the Fazio penalty and him being sent off, it made it difficult in the last four or five minutes – but we are happy.

“We came to get the three points, the result is good and I am happy.”

It wasn’t always pretty on another poor European surface but the win leaves us three points from the knockout stage. Next up in this competition are Partizan at home on the 27th of November.
