kane chelseaIt’s indicative of the state of English football that when your team outplays the league leaders, it doesn’t get the fair share of the ensuing press coverage. That’s why, after last night’s 5-3 hammering of Chelsea, the reports are all about Mourinho, unsuccessful penalty appeals and talk of conspiracy theories.

How dare anyone beat them? Well we did and it was left to our own Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino to put the game in a better context.

“It was a great victory. We deserved the victory and we were better than Chelsea,” he said.

“For me, it’s only three points. I think it is a good victory against Chelsea, who I think are one of the best teams in the world.

“But this is nothing – in the end it’s only three points.”

“It was an important three points for us to believe in our way. Mourinho is my friend but, in the end, it’s three points.”

That three points lifts us up to fifth and after the interlude for the third round tie at Burnley, it’s back to league action with a return trip to Crystal Palace on the 10th of this month.

  1. Mourinho’s a twat. So ungracious. I hope Cahill gets a decent ban.
Otherwise, what a great night. Loads of youngsters who’ve come through the ranks playing with spirit and quality. Chadli was immense. And despite his obvious mistake, i though Fazio had a good game (great take off Hazard’s toe) and is dovetailing well with Vertongen.
Having Walker back is massive for us. Lloris was imperious. Hope Mason’s ok.
Pace on both flanks and someone who can actually score all types of goals.
Oh. And a manager with grace.

  2. Sadly it is my understanding that the FA will take no action against Cahill following the referee’s report.I didn’t notice Mourinho suggesting a red card for his assault against Harry Kane.I guess he is myopic in his view of games just like Wenger.Three very winnable games coming up after we beat Burnley.
