Is the deadwood clearout about to begin? As news comes through that Spurs have accepted a bid from Swansea for Kyle Naughton, the press are speculating wildly about who might follow. With Kyle Walker back to full fitness, DeAndre Yedlin joining up with the squad and Eric Dier looking like a far more effective cover, Naughton’s time always looked as if it would come to an end and the 26 year old now seems to be on his way.

Elsewhere, the Daily Star has led to the conclusion that Soldado, Adebayor, Paulinho, Etienne Capoue, Nacer Chadli, BAE and Aaron Lennon could all be surplus to requirements with only the Chadli suggestion looking less than plausible.

The theory is that Mauricio Pochettino is looking to fund bids for Kevin Mirallas – a more than useful player who clearly has adopted the Tottenham standard of penalty taking – Islam Slimani and Fabian Delph.

Yesterday it looked as though this may be another quiet January for the club but suddenly, some last week excitement could very well be in prospect.

  1. One swallow doesn’t make a summer. The others will be going nowhere (unfortunately in some cases). The story about Soldadud going to Germany is dross and Adesnore appears to be back in the fold. Selling Chadli would be bonkers – at least he scores goals. BAE is the only other obvious candidate for leaving, otherwise what with being in so many comps I can see Poch hanging onto the lot. No point in bringing in new players who then need to bed-in all over again unless they are real class acts, and we all know Ebenezer Levy won’t pay for a class act in January, nor most of the time for that matter.

  2. i personally think, after the influx of new players we’ve had over the last 2 summers, it’ll be quiet. we proved last yr, and liverpool are proving that if you bring in more than 5 players it causes a lack of team consistency. you have to add bit by bit.. too much at one time causes chaos….right now the Spurs squad seems more settled, so i think only a few will go and maybe, just maybe one in.. Naughts looks to be the first out.. im also hoping that we have a peaceful summer.. a couple of quality additions.. but not more than 3!! and hoping we get champs lg. so that Eriksen, verts, Lloris, etc.. wont be off to barca, real, psg…or whoever else can temp them.

  3. whenever I read anything on this blog I get the feeling of negativity – it should be called Tottenham High Road Blog and not relate to Spurs!
