Tottenham finished their Audi Cup campaign with a 2-0 win over AC Milan in the third place play-off.
Nacer Chadli opened the scoring in the first half with a fine left-footed striker, before Kieran Trippier brilliantly set up Tom Carroll for 2-0 after the break.
Trippier was deservedly named man of the match after the game. The former Burnley right back will expect to challenge Kyle Walker for a starting spot this season, and might even be rewarded with a start at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to Spurs’ victory…
What beautiful technique @tom_carroll92! First time side-foot into the far corner. Great pass in to him from Trippier too.

Tom Carroll is the English Isco.

#thfc Wasn't sure Carroll had a future at Spurs but he's done well today and posed a threat.

Interesting that Poch has paired Alli in the pivot with Dier, Bentaleb & now Mason this half. Get the feeling he starts on Saturday!

We carry on like this then I can't see any reason why we can't go the season unbeaten.

Is Lloris fit again? Oh goody.

There will be plenty of mistakes and not a lot of consistency but there's something appealing about watching youth over expensive imports.
