It’s quite rare to find English talent playing abroad these days, but Spurs have been linked with the signing of Lens’ young England star Taylor Moore – a player with a remarkably similar story to our own Eric Dier.
Dier moved to Portugal as a child and came through the ranks at Sporting Lisbon before Tottenham brought him to the Premier League. The 18-year old English defender Moore moved to France with his family aged seven and is now one of the brightest prospects at Ligue 2 side Lens.
Moore is also highly-rated at international level, winning England caps at U19, U18 and U17 level. It’s little surprise then that the 6ft central defender is attracting the attention of English clubs eager to land a young talent for a relatively affordable price.
The Sun claim that Spurs and West Ham are battling it out for Taylor, who was attached to the Hammers’ academy before his move to France. While West Ham can offer a return to a familiar environment for the Walthamstow-born defender, Tottenham can point to the development of Dier as evidence that the club are willing to give young players a chance in the Premier League, whatever their background.
