Harry Kane and Dele Alli were both nominated for PFA awards today. Alli is the favourite to be named as the PFA Young Player of the Year, while Kane has once again made the shortlist in that category and had also made the cut for the Player of the Year award.
Yet despite two Spurs players receiving this accolade, there was controversy at the fact that Toby Alderweireld was overlooked despite a brilliant debut season at White Hart Lane. Here’s how Twitter reacted to the news.
Congratulations to Harry Kane for getting nominated for Player and Young Player of the Year. #THFC pic.twitter.com/Ny8id1TiAZ

Competitive @PFA shortlist. Mahrez the favourite chased by Vardy. Alderweireld arguably the surprise exclusion.

Having studied the nominees, my POTY winners would be:
1) Alderweireld
2) Alderweireld
3) Kane
4) Alderweireld
5) Mahrez
6) Alderweireld— Ben McAleer (@BenMcAleer1) April 13, 2016
However much I want Harry to win it'll blatantly be Mahrez. Alli's nailed on though.

If there is one player who has turned #thfc into title contenders – while respecting Alli/Kane's contribution – surely its Toby Alderweireld

Ridiculously proud of @HKane and @Dele_Alli for their @PFA nominations. Couldn't be happier to be a @SpursOfficial fan right now #COYS

Dele Alli surely nailed on as Young Player of the Year. Progression and performances off the scale.

Toby Alderweireld staying under the radar & slightly underrated is fine by me. That's how we were able to sign him in the first place.

No Premier League player has recorded more assists in 2016 than Dele Alli (6).
