The Sun claim that Spurs are interested in signing the Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

Leno has won 14 caps for the Germany U21 side and has been called up to the full squad as an understudy for the Bayern Munich keeper Manuel Neuer.

The 24-year old has £12.5m get-out clause which expires on April 30th. This represents something of a bargain for the highly-rated young goalkeeper who has also been linked with the likes of Barcelona, Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Yet it is something of a surprise to see Tottenham rumoured to be interested in signing a goalkeeper of this quality. While the idea of the club wanting to find a younger and better replacement for our understudy keeper Michel Vorm is not outrageous, it’s questionable as to whether Leno would want to compete with Hugo Lloris at this stage of his career.

You’d think Leno would want to go to a club where he is more or less guaranteed to be number one, which given Lloris’ recent comments regarding how happy he is at Spurs, seems unlikely any time soon.

Leno is certainly a name to keep an eye out for the future though and as you’ll see from his highlights reel, he is a brilliant shot-stopper.
