The father of the Argentine striker Jonathan Calleri has claimed that his son will be joining Spurs in August.

Calleri is currently on-loan at the Brazilian giants Sao Paulo from the Uruguayan club Deportivo Maldonado. Yahoo! Brasil report that Calleri’s father Guillermo has informed Sao Paulo that the 22-year old had made a verbal agreement to move to White Hart Lane.

August has been mooted as a probable date for the transfer, though a possible problem has been highlighted by the Brazilian football expert Felipe Mekhitarian.

Sao Paulo are through to the semi-finals of the Copa Libertadores where they will play Atletcio Nacional from Colombia. With the two legs taking place in July, Spurs could be left in a tight spot should Sao Paulo progress to the final.

Calleri has scored 12 goals in 24 games for Sao Paulo and is able to play as a striker, or on the right wing. As you’ll see from this highlights video, the quick and skilful player is also pretty handy in the air and looks to have the strength required to play in the Premier League.

  1. It is unlikely that a player can move to the Premier League whenn there is 3rd party ownership by an investment company.

  2. We need to get this and Ante Coric sewn up quickly. Then move onto Batshuayi, Wanyama and maybe Halilovic deals. Alsoif Juan Mata gets put up for 20m now that Mourinho is at Man U we ahould show some interest as we need eriksen back up/competition

  3. Mata is not what we need MoPo will only want young quick players who will fit into the system We must do our business quickly not last minute like Levy likes.
