A deal to sign Vincent Janssen from AZ Alkmaar is expected to be completed this week and reports claim that he could be followed by another Dutchman.

The Telegraph have reported that once the Netherlands striker has been signed, Spurs will turn their attentions to Janssen’s international colleague Georginio Wijnaldum.

Despite being relegated in his debut season at Newcastle, Wijnaldum first Premier League campaign was a fruitful one as he scored 11 goals and provided five assists.

This was followed by two goals for Holland this summer in their friendly victories against Poland and Austria. Wijnaldum was signed by Newcastle for £14.5m after impressing at his former club PSV Eindhoven, where he scored 56 times in 152 appearances.

With the Magpies having been relegated last season, it surely won’t be too difficult to persuade Wijnaldum to move back to the Premier League. His manager Rafa Benitez has spoken of his desire to keep the 25-year old to help Newcastle’s promotion bid, but money talks.

With the likes of Nacer Chadli, Ryan Mason and Alex Pritchard all supposedly available for transfer, the funds could very well be in place to land the talented playmaker. Would you be happy to see Wijnaldum at Tottenham next season?

  1. Quite possibly and why not? We already have a large chunk of the Belgium teams so why not start a Dutch collection too – not Van Persie though!

  2. I would snap him up. Perfect competition for erikssen. His record speaks for itself. Newcastle wsd the wrong club for him, he’d smash it at spurs.
