L’Equipe have reported that Clinton Njie has agreed to join Marseille on loan.

The French paper claims that Marseille will be bound to pay Spurs a fee of €7m once Njie plays a set amount of games for the club.

The news looks set to allow Georges-Kevin Nkoudou to move to White Hart Lane. The winger has passed a medical with the club, with a fee of £10.9m agreed, but Marseille were said to be reluctant to authorise the deal until a replacement had been secured.

Njie was an obvious solution to this problem, with the Cameroon international able to play in Nkoudou’s wide role and having proved himself as a success in Ligue 1 having scored eight goals for Lyon in 2014-15.

The out-of-favour forward turned down a return to France with Marseille earlier this week, but seems to have had a change of heart. With competition for places at Tottenham set to be even fiercer this season, this seems to be the best decision for all parties involved.

  1. N’Jie purchased for £14M and to be sold for £6M after 1 season( when he was injured and never really given a chance), sounds like a good bit of business to me.Pathetic MP and Mitchell.

  2. He didn t break into double figures for Tottenham last season, failing to score a goal. He still has four years left on his contract, so would retain his value should he go back to France for a year, hoping to return to form and then make an impact upon coming back to North London. Whilst it s unlikely that any deal to send N Jie on loan to Marseille will be contractually tied to the Nkodou move, good relations built between the clubs over sed move could make N Jie s easier to force through.
