A number of Spurs youngsters impressed with their performances in the 2-1 defeat to Juventus on Tuesday and one of them was the midfielder Harry Winks.

Now aged 20, it’s starting to get to the time where Winks needs to be playing some first-team football. The only question is whether it’s with Tottenham or out on loan somewhere.

It’s quite possible that Winks could force himself into Mauricio Pochettino’s thoughts during the pre-season, not least because there is little depth in the midfield positions. Moussa Dembele, Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama are leading the way, but behind them there is an opportunity for Winks to jump ahead of Tom Carroll and Ryan Mason.

With Carroll and Mason having struggled last season and there being doubts as to their suitability to offer back up to the likes of Dembele, there’s no reason why Winks – or indeed Josh Onomah – couldn’t displace them.

Watch Winks in action against Juventus and let us know your thoughts on whether he’s ready to step up to the big time.
