Spanish paper Marca have reported that Pau Lopez is interested in joining Spurs from Espanyol.

The 21-year old goalkeeper was said to be relatively settled and a player that Espanyol wanted to keep, but the interest from Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham has turned his head.

Pochettino and Pau are well known to each other, with the Spanish U21 international having been a member of the youth setup at Espanyol during the Argentine’s spell as head coach at the club.

Marca claim that Lopez has not requested a transfer and the club will only sell if they receive the right offer. Spurs have made a bid of €2m, which was rejected.

Pau is highly rated and was named in Spain’s squad for their pre-Euro 2016 friendly with Bosnia. The club could do with a young goalkeeper to provide some real competition and cover for Hugo Lloris, especially as the French captain has yet to commit to signing a new contract.
