Tottenham have finally done a deal, but it’s not the one fans are expecting.

According to Sky Sports, the club has completed the signing of Colombian youth international Juan Pablo Gonzalez Velasco. The 17-year-old will join up with the Tottenham under-18s.

The former Brentford trainee actually made his debut for the club in the under-18s 5-1 win against Aston Villa last weekend. He had previously been on trial at Burnley.

Velasco will join a host of promising youngsters in the Spurs youth ranks including Shayon Harrison and Marcus Edwards, who impressed in pre-season friendlies against Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan.

Mauricio Pochettino will undoubtedly be happy to see the club secure another promising youth player following his comments earlier in the week suggesting he is keen to develop more and more academy players.

But the Tottenham boss will also be concerned about the lack of senior recruits coming in. Velasco is one for future — Tottenham arguably need to prioritise first team squad players at this stage.

  1. If we only end up with nkoudou after the window shuts we are worse off than last season and we have champions to contend with I won’t be surprised if poch walks next season

  2. Why should MP wait until next season to walk.If he had any brain he would leave now and follow the 2 backroom staff who understood that under Levy, we are going backwards.

  3. brb get champions league and instead of adding depth manage to sell off every reserve. I sure hope that there are some new senior signings coming in by the end of tomorrow.
