Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that Harry Kane suffered ligament damage in the victory over Sunderland, giving new signing Vincent Janssen a guaranteed run of games.
Pochettino refused to give a timeframe for the return of Kane, though reports have claimed it could be as long as two months, which would see him miss a number of crucial games in both the Premier League and Champions League.
Janssen was signed for this very situation and with a sustained period in the team now guaranteed, has the platform to establish himself at the club.
Here’s how Spurs fans reacted to the situation on Twitter.

#thfc The spotlight falls on Vincent Janssen rather earlier than anyone would have liked. He could certainly do with an early goal.

If Kane is out for two months, I think janssen will come in and do well, I see people writing him off already #coys

Some maybe need reminding it was only last season Janssen scored 27 goals in just 34 Eredivisie games, guy just needs a chance. #COYS#THFC

As long as Kane is back in time for the London derbies then I don't see this as a major problem. Could use the time off #coys

Janssen could play well but go goalless for however long Kane is out and we'd probably still be okay. There are plenty of goals in the team.

Ok so Kane is hurt. This is why we have guys like Janssen and Son who can step into the offensive role. #COYS #THFC #Tottenham #BPL
