Mauricio Pochettino has given his press conference ahead of the League Cup trip to Liverpool.

Perhaps the most significant revelation was Pochettino’s claim that Harry Kane should return within the next week.

Another big talking point was Moussa Sissoko’s three-match ban after elbowing Bournemouth’s Harry Arter.

Also on the agenda were the availability of Marcus Edwards, Michel Vorm’s return to the team and possible strength of the Liverpool side.

  1. The League Cup (or whatever) is a non event for me, more now than ever given our progress.
Putting that aside, I want to throw some observations into the blogosphere….
To me it seems that we are becoming a victim of our own tactics in that, we have compressed the pitch to such an extent, that our attacking players no longer arrive in the final third simply because they are already there and waiting and so the element of disruption (to the opposition defense) no longer exists. Add the defensive 1-4-5-1 from the opposition into the mix and we have football pinball in the final third.
Poch has removed a holding MF from our formation but I would truly like to see him play two up front also, especially tomorrow night, so that those three ATMFs have more to think about defensively and perhaps we can get the opposition to open up that attacking third (theirs, not ours)….
