Many had high hopes for Nabil Bentaleb when he broke into the Tottenham side under interim manager Tim Sherwood in late 2013.

Unfortunately, the midfielder’s attitude and fitness were questioned when his play-time was drastically cut short during Mauricio Pochettino’s second season at the club.

The Algerian was swiftly moved out on loan to German club Shalke, who have already agreed a fee to sign the player permanently.

It seems Bentaleb is a big hit in the Bundesliga. He has been nominated for the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award in Germany’s top division, and the video below suggests he is very highly rated over there.

If Bentaleb continues to impress, will Spurs consider retaining his services next season? Or is there no way back for the once-loved youngster?
