Inter Milan are interested in signing Tottenham duo Toby Alderweireld and Kyle Walker this summer, according to reports in Italy.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato cites Sky Sports 24 (the Italian Sky Sports) as its source for the story. The report also claims Alderweireld has already told Tottenham he does not intend to sign a new contract with the club.

They might be getting that information from Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who has a very mixed record when it comes to accurate transfer reports.

On his website, he claims Alderweireld doesn’t want to renew his contract with Spurs — I’d call this mere speculation at this moment in time.

Inter, keen to spend big this summer, would have to fork out a huge sum on the Belgian given that the £25 million clause in his current contract can’t be triggered until the summer of 2019.

Walker would also be difficult to pursuade; Spurs are almost certain to qualify for next season’s Champions League, while Inter’s place in the competition appears to be in doubt.

Money talks, of course, but this story is likely to be a case of the rumour mill getting prematurely excited ahead of the next transfer window.
