Tottenham are set for talks with Argentinian club Estudiantes this week over the potential signing teenage defender Juan Foyth, according to The London Evening Standard.

At the weekend, The Mirror first reported Spurs’ interest in Foyth, suggesting the player is ready to reject interest from Roma and a number of Russian clubs.

The 19-year-old, who caught the eye for Argentina at the Under-20 World Cup last month, is apparently available for around £10 million.

Discussing Europe, Foyth has said: “I like competitive leagues more than anything. I always watch the English, Italian and Spanish leagues.”

Tottenham are keen to sign a left-sided centre-back to replace Kevin Wimmer, who has confirmed he wants to leave the club.

With Kyle Walker departure also probable, Spurs may also be keen on a defender that can play at both right-back and centre-back.

Swansea City’s Alfie Mawson and Middlesbrough’s Ben Gibson have been linked with moves to Tottenham in recent weeks, as has Ajax’s Joel Veltman.
