Leicester City have rejected a bid from AS Roma for Tottenham target Riyad Mahrez.
Mahrez has asked to leave Leicester this summer but his suitors are baulking at Leicester’s £50 million valuation of the player.
Spurs have reportedly requested that Leicester keep them informed on Mahrez’s situation as they consider making a bid for the Algerian.
Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare has confirmed the Foxes have rejected an offer from Serie A club Roma.
“I think I was quoted on the last press day that there was no bids,” Shakespeare said. “There was a bid from Roma I was told afterwards, so I would like to put the record straight on that one.”
He added: “It was politely declined on the basis that it was a low offer. Of what that offer is, don’t ask me how much because I don’t know and I don’t get involved in that.”
Leicester’s £50 million valuation would have to come down a long way if Tottenham are to make a move.
Arsenal are also believed to keen on the 26-year-old.
