UPDATE: Cameron Carter-Vickers has completed his loan move to Sheffield United after signing a new deal with Tottenham.

Original article:

Tottenham defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is set to join Championship side Sheffield United on loan, according to multiple reports.

The promising USA international was expected to play a part in Spurs’ first team squad this season.

But Carter-Vickers has fallen down the pecking order in Tottenham’s defence following the record signing of centre-back Davinson Sanchez from Ajax.

Another centre-back, the 19-year-old Argentine Juan Foyth, is also beleived to be close to joing Spurs, making things even harder for Carter-Vickers.

As a result, the 19-year-old is set to join Sheffield United on loan for the remainder of the season, according to ESPN and Sky Sports.

As Tottenham fan and youth expert Chris Miller points out on Twitter, the Yorkshire side have been setting up in a 3-5-2 formation this term under manager Chris Wilder.

Mauricio Pochettino usually likes to keep young prospects at the club to train with the first team, but his stance seems to have changed lately.

Josh Onomah was also loaned out to Championship club Aston Villa earlier this month.
