Harry Winks believes he is good enough to play for England at the World Cup.

The Tottenham midfielder made his debut for the senior side in Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Lithuania.

Harry Kane scored the winning goal from the penalty spot, but Winks was named man of the match by a number of outlets.

The 21-year-old gave a confident answer when asked if he has a chance of playing in Russia next summer.

“I trust my ability and believe I am good enough to play at this level,” said Winks.

“Of course it is something I’ve dreamed of, to be able to say I’ve been to the World Cup, but it is a long way away and all I can do is focus on Spurs.”

Spurs are reportedly set to offer Winks a new contract that will see his wages double to £40,000-a-week.
