Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti has met with the agent of Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele, according to reports in Italy.

Dembele has been heavily linked with the exit door this summer as Mauricio Pochettino seeks to overhaul his squad.

After signing a new five-year contract, Pochettino has reportedly been promised increased transfer funds this summer.

Part of those funds, however, will come from the sales of a number of first team players, including Dembele, Toby Alderweireld and Danny Rose.

Dembele, 30, has just on year left on his current contract and has apparently put talks over a new deal on hold until after the World Cup.

Reports have linked him with a move to the Chinese Super League, while Juventus has also been mooted as a potential destination.

But according to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (via Calcio Mercato), Dembele’s agent Kia Joorabchian has spoken to new Napoli boss Ancelotti about a possible transfer.

It is believed Dembele doesn’t feel he can handle another season of top-level Premier League football – the Belgian has struggled with injuries in recent years.

Serie A is a bit slower than the Premier League, so perhaps Dembele sees the Italian top-flight as a more manageable league for him to play in.
