Manchester City are set to sign 16-year-old goalkeeper and reported Tottenham target Gavin Bazunu, according to the Irish Independent.

Bazanu currently plays for Shamrock Rovers where has has already made four appearances in the League of Ireland, keeping a clean sheet in each game. He has also featured for Rovers in a Europea League tie.

According to the Irish Independent, Spurs and Liverpool had been keen on the teenager but Manchester City are set to seal a deal for next summer worth around £360,000.

Bazanu was apparently in attendance for City’s 6-1 Premier League win over Huddersfield Town at the Etihad on Sunday, after which he agreed a four-year contract with the champions.

Tottenham are likely on the lookout for a long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris, who turns 32 in December. Second-choice stopper Michel Vorm has just a year left on his contract, while Paulo Gazzaniga isn’t seen as future successor to Lloris.

Spurs were linked with Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy over the summer before Vorm signed an extension to his deal. Rumours about another move for ex-loanee Pau Lopez have also gone quiet.
