Tottenham are interested in signing Ajax winger David Neres, according to the Express.

Neres has emerged as one of the most talented young players in the Eredevisie, scoring 14 goals last season.

The 21-year-old’s contract expires in the summer of 2022, but the Express claims he is ready to leave Ajax and Spurs have joined the race to sign him.

However, it is believed Manchester United and Chelsea are also keen, while Borussia Dortmund have sent scouts to watch Neres this season.

Tottenham have something of a connection with Ajax having signed the likes of Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez from the Dutch giants – Toby Alderweireld also used to play for them.

But the Londoners are already well stocked in the attacking wide positions, with Lucas Moura giving Mauricio Pochettino another option this term.

Neres certainly wouldn’t get much of a look-in if he arrived at Spurs in the upcoming January transfer window, although Spurs are unlikely to meet his reported £45 million valuation midway through the season anyway.
