Tottenham are preparing a huge offer for AS Roma forward Cengiz Under, according to reports in Italy.

Under, 21, was linked with Spurs before he joined Roma from Turkish side Basaksehir in the summer of 2017.

The Turkey international, who has scored four goals in 10 appearances for his country, has impressed in Serie A although he missed a sitter against Real Madrid in the Champions League last month.

Indeed, he hasn’t been in the best goalscoring form this term, finding the net four times in 17 matches across all competitions. He has also provided five assists.

According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness), Tottenham are very keen on Under and are willing to pay €52m (£46.25m) to sign him.

Sport Witness points out there are no other details in the report, so there isn’t a lot to get excited about just yet.

Spurs could do with a striker like Under to provide a different kind of option up front to Harry Kane.

The likes of Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente have failed to provide adequate cover and competition for Kane in recent seasons, but Under appears to be more talented than those two.

  1. Lordy, they don’t need another striker. They need someone to shore up the midfield and another at the back. Getting a ground wouldn’t hurt.
