Mousa Dembele is set to complete his transfer from Tottenham to Beijing Guoan, according to multiple reports.

BBC Sport claims Dembele has flown out to China to finalise an £11 million move, meaning it is highly likely he has already played his last game for Spurs.

That final appearance came against Wolves in a 3-2 win for Tottenham at Molyneux in November.

The midfielder limped off after seven minutes with an injury and hasn’t played since.

Dembele recently returned to training but his move to the Chinese Super League now appears to imminent.

The Belgium international played just under 250 times for Spurs following his arrival from Fulham in 2012.

A number of memorable performances, particularly under the management of Mauricio Pochettino, turned Dembele into a fan favourite.

But injuries and fitness issues saw his form dip this term, and it is believed the slower pace of the Chinese top-flight – plus an increased salary – convinced Dembele to leave.

Moussa Sissoko limped off with a groin injury against Manchester United on Sunday, meaning Tottenham are increasingly short in central midfield.

Dembele’s exit won’t help that in regard, but perhaps it will convince Spurs chairman Daniel Levy to bring in a replacement this month.
