Dele Alli will be checked before a decision is made on his availability for England against Montenegro on Monday night, Gareth Southgate has confirmed.

Alli left the field after an hour in England’s 5-0 victory over the Czech Republic on Friday night.

The Tottenham midfielder impressed in an attacking role towards the left, combining well with Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell.

However, having recently returned from a lengthy layoff with a hamstring injury, Southgate was unwilling to take any chances with Alli and removed him on the hour.

The England manager has now confirmed Alli will be checked ahead of Monday’s clash with Montenegro.

“A couple of checks on Dele, who’s missed a lot of football with a hamstring, Henderson with the injury he arrived with, Sancho a bit tight after the game. Nothing of a huge concern, but we want to make sure we are right,” Southgate said (via Goal).

It is likely Spurs have had some input regarding the number of minutes Alli receives during the current international break.

Mauricio Pochettino will be keen for Alli not to be overworked after missing the last few weeks of action.

Harry Kane will almost certainly play the entire 90 minutes against Montenegro unless England are winning convincingly going into the final stretch of the game.

We may also see Danny Rose and Kieran Trippier given some minutes.
