Tottenham are being priced out of a move for Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha, according to reports in Italy.
Strakosha has made 34 appearances across all competitions so far this season, conceding 36 goals and keeping nine clean sheets.
Italian outlet Il Messaggero (via Team Talk) claims Spurs have identified Strakosha as a possible long-term replacement for Hugo Lloris.
Lloris won the World Cup with France last summer but his club performances have been inconsistent over the last couple of seasons.
Michel Vorm is set to leave Tottenham when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign, which will leave the Londoners with Lloris and Paul Gazzaniga as their only senior goalkeepers.
Strakosha is said to be on the list of targets, but it seems Spurs may be priced out of a move for the 24-year-old.
It is believed Lazio want €40 million (around £34m) for Strakosha, an asking price Tottenham are unwilling to meet.
The report also claims Liverpool saw a bid of around £26 million for the Albania international turned down last summer before they signed Alisson from Roma.
Spurs will almost certainly be targeting a new goalkeeper either this summer or next, but Strakosha is an unlikely arrival unless Lazio lower their demands.
I tend to believe that Gazzaniga will get more playing time this year to see if he can slot into the starter role with Spurs. See us more inclined to ascquire a young # 3 to be developed. Gazzaniga may well have the skills to move up over the next year or two. Lloris’ value as a mentor is significant and if he can seee that as an emerging role for himself; he might end up with two capable proteges.
