Tottenham Hotspur have made an enquiry about Nice defender Youcef Atal, according to the Telegraph.

Atal, who has scored six goals in 25 league appearances from right-back this season, is said to be wanted by a host of clubs.

Nice will apparently hold out for no less than £34 million for the 22-year-old, meaning he will be Spurs’ second most expensive player ever if the Londoners win the race to sign him.

The Telegraph claims it is unlikely Mauricio Pochettino will be allowed to make more than two or three significant signings this summer.

However, if Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier depart – both have been linked with the exit door – Tottenham will be in desperate need of a new right-back.

Pochettino has opted against using Kyle Walker-Peters of late, suggesting the 22-year-old may not have a future at the club.

Juan Foyth has been used at right-back on occasion in recent matches, but the Argentinian’s future is clearly in the heart of the defence.

With that in mind, a new right-back could be creeping up Spurs’ list of priorities – and Atal might just be the man to come through the door.
