Tottenham Hotspur travel to Ajax for the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday night.

Davinson Sanchez is the latest player on the injury list, but despite his absence Mauricio Pochettino still has a number of decisions to make regarding his team selection.

One thing Sanchez’s injury just about ensures is that Spurs will line up with a back four, which will probably be made up of Kieran Trippier, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen – who will wear a protective mask – and Danny Rose.

Eric Dier struggled in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth, so Victor Wanyama should protect the defence instead.

Moussa Sissoko will almost definitely start, too. His presence will give Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen the chance to roam forward to join the attack.

Son Heung-min, who missed the first leg through suspension and was sent off at Bournemouth, should partner Lucas Moura up front. Tottenham will have the option to use Fernando Llorente, the hero against Manchester City, from the bench.

  1. Seems about right. It will be interesting to see who is on the bench. I hear that Lame Ella may be fit enough for that. God help us if he is called on. We’d be better off playing just ten.
