Tottenham Hotspur have entered negotiations with Real Betis over the signing of midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, according to reports in Spain.

Lo Celso spent last season on loan at Betis from Paris Saint-Germain, scoring 16 goals and providing six assists in 46 appearances across all competitions, including five goals in seven Europa League games.

Betis have agreed to sign Lo Celso permanently, but it is believed they would be willing to let the 23-year-old if they receive a suitable bid this summer.

And Spanish outlet AS claims Spurs are willing to pay €60 million (around £53m) for Lo Celso.

The report suggests Tottenham have in recent days been in negotiations with Betis, who are hoping to receive a big fee with 20% of the money going to PSG because of a sell-on clause.

As a result, it looks like Spurs will have to break their transfer record if they want to sign Lo Celso.

AS also believes Real Madrid’s chances of signing Christian Eriksen will increase if Lo Celso goes to Tottenham.

Lo Celso is an Argentina international and so could be tempted by the chance to work with his countryman Mauricio Pochettino in north London.
