Manchester United have contacted Napoli over right-back Elseid Hysaj which could force the Italian side to go back in for Kieran Trippier, according to reports in Italy.

Trippier has been heavily linked with Napoli and Juventus in recent weeks, while Manchester United are also said to hold an interest in the Tottenham defender.

United have apparently just had a £50m bid for Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka turned down, meaning they may now target alternatives.

And Sky Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio believes one of those alternatives if Hysaj, who can play on either side of a back four.

As a result, Di Marzio claims Napoli could go back in for Trippier despite recently giving up their chase of the England international.

Trippier is expected to leave Spurs this summer in search of more regular football elsewhere so that he can win his place back in the Three Lions squad.

If United keep missing out on their targets, perhaps they will make a move for Trippier themselves – if looks like Tottenham could have a bidding war on their hands.

  1. If any Manager watched Trippier actually play over the last 8 months they’d run a bloody mile! So so poor – defensively inept. A Chieftain Tank could roll in behind him and he wouldn’t notice!!
