Eric Dier has been ruled out of Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Asia the club has confirmed.
The England midfielder missed 19 games last season with various hip and muscle problems, but returned for the final month of the campaign and then went off to Portugal to represent England at the Nations League, where he started the Three Lions’ 3rd-place play-off victory against Switzerland.
But this is another hammer blow for Dier, who would have been hoping to impress manager Mauricio Pochettino after the recent signing of Tanguy Ndombele decreased his chances of becoming a regular for Spurs next season.
This statement from the club read:
“Eric Dier has undergone a medical procedure to correct an issue detected during medical assessments on the first day of pre-season training.
Following the successful procedure Eric will now undertake a short period of rehabilitation. He will therefore not travel on the Club’s pre-season tour to Singapore and Shanghai.”
