Lucas Moura says he respects Mauricio Pochettino and his decision after the Brazilian winger was left on the bench for the Champions League final.
The 26-year-old missed out on a place in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI for Tottenham’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in Madrid last month.
That snub came less than a month after Moura bagged a sensational second-half hat-trick in Spurs’ semi-final second leg against Ajax in Amsterdam to send Tottenham to the final.
But with Harry Kane – who missed both last-four ties with an ankle injury – fit again, Pochettino opted to start his top-scorer, rather than the semi-final hero.
As understanding as ever, Moura said: “I have no problem with it.
“Of course it was difficult because every player wants to play. I am sure it will have been a difficult decision. I need to respect the decision of the coach and respect my team-mates.”
Moura replaced Harry Winks for the final 24 minutes in the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, but was unable to find an equaliser.

Lucas Moura is a brilliant young player destined for stardom . If he’d of been picked that night ,the CL trophy would be in London.
Great player , he only got us there.
“Speaks out”? No, speaks. Non story copy and paste from BBC website. Clickbait rubbish.
