Atletico Madrid starlet Joao Felix has refused to rule out “one day” joining Tottenham.

Felix joined Atletico from Benfica this summer after his massive €120 million release clause was triggered. Atletico actually ended up paying €6 million more than the clause, making the total value of the transfer around £113m.

The 19-year-old forward scored 20 goals across all competitions last season, including 15 in the Portuguese top-flight. He also made his full international debut for Portugal.

Taking part in a Q&A, the responses from which were published by Bleacher Report, Felix was asked which leagues outside of La Liga and the Primeira Liga he can see himself playing in. His answer? The Premier League.

He was then asked if he can see himself playing for Tottenham one day, to which he said: “Me, to Spurs? Now it’s impossible, but I don’t know one day.”

It’s likely the teenager was merely being polite and not ruling out playing for another club in the future, but the specific mention of Tottenham has inevitably made headlines.

If Felix is a hit in Madrid, it’s difficult to image just how big his next transfer fee will be.

The Premier League Panini Tabloid is a special commemorative newspaper sticker collection celebrating the exciting new partnership between the greatest league in the world and the legendary name in football publishing, Panini.
