Tottenham are interested in signing West Ham United defender Issa Diop, according to Sky Sports.
Diop enjoyed a successful debut season with West Ham after joining from Toulouse in the summer of 2018. He has made 16 appearances so far this term but has missed the last three league matches through suspension.
Jose Mourinho praised the centre-back last season when he was in charge of Manchester United, and it looks like the Portuguese will now turn his admiration into interest.
Sky Sports claims Spurs are keen to sign Diop, though West Ham do not want to sell the 22-year-old. It is believed the Hammers value him at more than £50 million, which would be the most Tottenham have ever spent on a defender.
Spurs are perhaps not in desperate need of a new centre-back after Toby Alderweireld signed a new contract until 2023 earlier this week. The Belgian’s deal was set to expire at the end of the season before he extended his stay.
That said, both Alderweireld and his countryman Jan Vertonghen are in their 30s, so signing a long-term replacement is probably becoming more of a priority.
You havent got a hope. Whoops there goes another flying pig.
