Tottenham didn’t exactly deserve to win at Watford. In fact up to a point, the hosts had the best chance to win the game when Troy Deeney’s penalty was well saved by Paulo Gazzaniga.
But as the contest became stretched in the final stages, Spurs were handed a huge opportunity to win the game. After some good football down the right, the ball fell to Erik Lamela, who could only poke an effort towards goal.
The ball brushed off the back of a Watford defender and appeared to roll over the line before being cleared. Referee Michael Oliver looked at his watch, but the ball somehow hadn’t crossed the line. (If you cheered like it was a goal, don’t worry – you weren’t alone…)
The moment became even more painful for Tottenham fans when the official goal-line technology image was shown, shared by AP journalist Rob Harris on Twitter.

As you can see above, the ball was literally mili-metres away from crossing the line. Spurs were fractions away from leaving Vicarage Road with all three points.
