Despite the result, Sunday was a special day for one Tottenham midfielder.
Harry Winks fulfilled a childhood dream by captaining Spurs for the first time in his career having grown up supporting the club and coming through the academy.
Tottenham ended up on the wrong side of a 3-2 scoreline, going down to goals from Matt Doherty, Diogo Jota and Raul Jimenez after first half strikes from Steven Bergwijn and Serge Aurier.
After the game, Winks spoke to Spurs TV about the pride he felt wearing the armband but admitted the occasion was somewhat spoiled by the result. Watch below.
“It was a really proud day for me and my family to captain Spurs, but it does take away the special honour when you lose the game."
