Tottenham are among the clubs in contention to sign Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana this summer, according to Goal.
Onana, a graduate of Barcelona’s academy, has been Ajax’s first-choice goalkeeper for the last three campaigns. He was between the sticks when Lucas Moura scored his famous hat-trick in the Champions League semi-final second leg last season.
The 23-year-old has conceded 21 goals and kept eight clean sheets in 24 Eredivisie appearances so far this term, and it is beginning to look like he may leave Ajax this summer.
Goal claims there could be scramble for Onana’s signature between Spurs, Chelsea and Barcelona, who are all apparently looking to strengthen in the goalkeeping department this summer.
Hugo Lloris continues to be error-prone and isn’t getting any younger, so Onana would arguably be an upgrade on the Frenchman. It will be interesting to see just how keen Jose Mourinho is to sign a new goalkeeper when there are obviously other priorities this summer.
The Tottenham boss will probably look at adding new defenders and a goalscorer before his attentions turn to Lloris’ successor.
It is time for lloris to go because of his error but we all must be thankful to him for his faithful
Onanan would be best replacement
