Tottenham defender Serge Aurier has thanked fans for their support during a “difficult time” – and insisted “the best is yet to come.”

Aurier, whose currently in talks with a move to AC Milan according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, endured a difficult final few weeks to the campaign after his younger brother Christopher was tragically  shot and killed outside a nightclub in Marseille last month.

Despite his loss, the Spurs right-back showed his courage and class by still turning out in the final three Premier League games to help Jose Mourinho’s men secure a top-six place and European football once again.

Aurier made 42 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions this season, but given his inconsistent form for much of the campaign – he looks extremely likely to be moving away from north London this summer.

However, the Ivory Coast defender took to Instagram and not only expressed his gratitude for the support he’s received recently, but suggested that his work in the Premier League is not done yet.

“I received a lot of love messages in this difficult time I said thank you the best remains to come, thank you thanks everyone,” he said.
